Este sentimiento se produce debido a tres sustancias que inundan grandes áreas de nuestro cerebro, alterando el equilibrio químico de éste. Estas sustancias son: la oxitocina, la serotonina y la dopamina. No solo estas sustancias químicas se encargan de hacernos experimentar el amor, sino que hay más.

¿Cuáles son las sustancias químicas o neurotransmisores que intervienen en este proceso?

  1. Dopamina, más conocida como la droga del amor. Es un neurotransmisor que nos hace sentir placer y euforia. Nos crea la “necesidad” de estar con esa persona.
  2. Adrenalina. Esta hormona hace que suba la presión arterial, nos suden las palmas de las manos y nos ruboricemos, llegando incluso a desactivar las sensaciones de hambre y de sueño.
  3. La llamada “droga de la felicidad”: la endorfina. Aumenta nuestra energía y reduce nuestros niveles de miedo y dolor. Combinada con el resto de compuestos de la química del amor nos hace sentir increíblemente felices, optimistas y motivados.
  4. Oxitocina. Nos ayuda a forjar lazos permanentes y se libera en mayor medida con el contacto físico. Es la hormona responsable del apego y la fidelidad.
  5. Serotonina. Es el neurotransmisor por excelencia encargado de la felicidad, nos produce sensación de bienestar.

¿Por qué sufrimos por amor?

Como hemos visto en el apartado anterior son muchas las sustancias y neutransmisores los encargados de hacernos sentir, lo que llamamos amor. Ahora bien, ¿Qué ocurre cuando nos desilusionamos, nos dañan, nos dejan? Vaya, cuando se acaba el amor.
